First aid training for nursery staff 'to be made compulsory'
It is very sad that it takes a baby’s death to get this in place, but it is definitely great news for the welfare of our children.

TEACHING & ASSESSING FIRST AID COURSES
Hopefully, you will now be fully aware of the requirement for all trainer/assessors of First Aid related qualifications to have qualifications themselves in teaching and assessing at Level 3 as a minimum, in order to continue offering Ofqual and SQA regulated First Aid qualifications after 1st October 2015.
If you have a teaching qualification, but not an assessing qualification, you can either take an assessment qualification with a local provider such as a College, or attend our 1-day
CPD Workshop, which is by far your easiest route.
If you have neither a teaching, nor an assessing qualification, and you have completed a Nuco First Aid instructor course in the past, you could attend our 2-day Education and Training Fast Track course, which again, is your fastest route.

If you are in any doubt at all about your qualifications, please Contact Us immediately. Please rest assured that if you have completed the Level 3 Award in Education and Training, then you are adequately qualified.
If you do not have these qualifications in place by 1st October 2015, you will not be able to offer regulated First Aid related qualifications to your learners.
This is a standard set by the HSE and the Sector Skills Council for Health. It is a standard that has been adopted by all Awarding Organisations and their Approved Training Centres that offer Ofqual and SQA regulated First Aid related qualifications.
