Inhalers in Schools
Following our recent
October Newsletter regarding the change of legislation, which allows Schools to hold an emergency stock of inhalers for children who suffer from asthma, the Department of Education has now released a follow-up document, which outlines the requirements that a school must put in place, if it wishes to provide inhalers and details on how to obtain and manage inhalers within the school.

Monitoring of Instructors
Further to our recent reminders, which outline the requirement for all Instructors to be monitored annually, if they wish to continue training, we have been asked to clarify the procedure for Instructors who are unable to complete this before the end of this year (2014).
Since this requirement comes directly from the regulatory bodies, we unfortunately have no leeway in respect of this. If you are unable to provide a monitoring report by the end of the year, then we will need to restrict your ability to notify courses on our system. This does not mean that you will lose your Instructor status, but that you will have to conduct your annual monitoring on the first course that you teach in 2015, to re-instate your status.
If you have any questions regarding this process, please see our original
Newsletter from December 2013, regarding this requirement, which should answer your questions. We are, of course, always available to answer any questions that you may have, by email or phone and we will help you in any way we can.
As mentioned previously, if you have attended an Instructor course, an Instructor Update course or an Education and Training Fast Track course with us in 2014, then this will cover your requirement for this year and no further action is needed from you until 2015.
PLEASE NOTE: If the person who is monitoring you is not Nuco trained, then we will require a copy of their relevant qualifications, with your fully completed monitoring report. Without this information, your report will not be valid.
Many thanks for your understanding with this situation.
Activity First Aid
We have great news in respect of the Level 2 Award in Activity First Aid. Back in September it was announced that the regulatory bodies would not renew the Activity First Aid qualification past the end of 2014.
We can now announce that this decision has been reversed and the Level 2 Award in Activity First Aid qualification has been renewed for a further 12 months, so you can continue offering this great qualification to your Learners.
There is no change to the qualification at all and it will stay live until the end of 2015.
A team has been put together, which First Aid Awards are part of, to develop a new outdoor/wilderness qualification to replace the Activity course. This new qualification will be in place to take over from the Level 2 Award in Activity First Aid towards the end of 2015 and we will update you on its progress as it happens.
