New Guidance on 'Sharps'

The HSE has recently published a new Information Sheet providing advice on the Health and Safety (Sharp Instruments in Healthcare) Regulations 2013, which come into force on 11th May 2013.

It explains under what circumstances the Regulations apply, and provides practical advice on:
  • the safe use and disposal of sharps
  • training requirements
  • procedures for responding to a sharps injury

In respect of First Aid training, there is no change to what you already teach and that is the safe disposal and immediate hospital treatment should your casualty suffer a "sharp" injury.

HEALTH & SAFETY COMPLIANCE COURSE

Just a reminder about our new Level 3 H&S Qualification. After successfully completing this course and providing you have an adequate teaching/training qualification, you will be able to deliver a range of Ofqual and SQA regulated qualifications.
