PAEDIATRIC COURSES
As mentioned in a previous Newsletter, the Level 2 Ofqual and Level 5 SQA regulated Paediatric qualifications have now been re-levelled to Level 3 and 6 respectively, as of 1st September 2014.
Just to clarify the situation now:
- The 1-day course is now entitled: Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (Level 6 in Scotland)
- The 2-day course is now entitled: Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (Level 6 in Scotland)
Both of these new qualifications still consist of the same course content as the previous qualifications, so you can run the 1-day and 2-day courses in exactly the same way using the existing notes, PowerPoint and books. The main advantages are that the 2-day course has been re-levelled from Level 2 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland to Level 3, and in Scotland, from Level 5 to Level 6.
The 1-day course now offers the learners a Level 3 Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification (Level 6 in Scotland), rather than being a unit accredited course as before.
We are currently working on a new single book for the new Paediatric First Aid course and will let you know when this is available. This new book will support the full 2-day Paediatric First Aid and it will also include a section on AED and adult BLS.
NB: It is possible that the 2-day course may become a 3-day course next year. We will have to wait to see what changes will be made to the syllabus. We will of course keep you posted on this development.
We have created new
Level 3 Paperwork, which can be found in the Download Area of

If you have run a paediatric course prior to 1st September (old levelling) and have not yet registered the results on Nucoplus, you have until the end of September to do so.
COURSE PAPERWORK
We are currently experiencing some issues with the completion of the FAA course paperwork. Please note that the paperwork is a crucial element of the course. It acts as evidence of the learner's completion of the qualification and also as a record that they have met the learning outcomes for the qualification.
Can you please ensure that the course paperwork is completed, in full, on the course. The Learner Registration Form needs to be completed in full. The learner needs to indicate that they have learnt and understood all elements of the qualification and the form needs to be signed by you, as the course instructor. Please can you also ensure that the assessment papers are marked by yourself and not the learners, as we are picking up incorrect marking, which could result in a learner being incorrectly issued with a qualification.
Upon course completion, please keep all of the paperwork in a secure area for up to 5 years, in case it is called upon for auditing.
We are always available to help and talk through the completion of the paperwork by telephone or email, so please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions.
